On Monday, November 24, Southeastern Randolph Middle School held its first-ever Thanksgiving parade! Art teacher Connie Albright came up with the idea, inspired by the iconic Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. The parade would take place during the week of Thanksgiving break, with Southeastern Randolph art students participating.
Ms. Albright’s eighth-grade students created parade “balloons” and also learned about the history of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. On the morning of the event, Principal Melanie Richey shared interesting facts about the parade with the student body. Students also watched a video that provided background on this well-known tradition.
During the parade, students lined the hallways and cheered as their classmates showcased their creations. It was a fun and educational experience for all!
